Washington. A new Omicron variant of the corona virus seems to be spreading rapidly in America. In a new media report, quoting the latest federal data released regarding the Kovid-19 virus, it has been feared that this new variant can cause big trouble. The Wall Street Journal reported in its report that according to estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released on Friday, 11.4% of the total cases of Kovid infection found in the US by mid-October, Omicron’s two subvariants BQ.1 and BQ. It was only 1.1.

CDC data shows that both Omicron subvariants are related to the ba.5 variant, which was responsible for about 68% of the most recent cases detected in the US. Experts are also tracking another variant, ba.2.72.2, which in the latest CDC report was found to be responsible for an estimated 1.4% of cases of covid infection.

The Wall Street Journal quoted Dan Baruch, director of the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, as saying that ‘this rapid surge of the BQ subvariant indicates that either BA.5. Compared to the variants, they have increased their transmission capacity or immunity to the vaccine.

Previously, a study that was not peer reviewed suggested that BQ.1.1. And other new subvariants may be more resistant to certain antibody therapies.

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the US has been on a steep decline since the increase of the BA.5-variant since late July. However, the report said that in some parts of Europe, the number of Kovid infections and hospitalizations due to the BA.5 subvariant is increasing again.
