A total of 94 countries voted in favor of the resolution.
73 countries including India did not participate in the voting.

New York. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has passed a resolution on Monday to keep the pressure on Russia. The UNGA has held Russia accountable for the Ukraine war in the resolution. In this proposal, the issue of compensation for the losses caused to Ukraine due to the Russian attack was raised. A vote was held in the UNGA regarding this. A total of 94 countries voted in favor of the resolution. At the same time, 14 countries voted against the proposal. Along with this, 73 countries including India did not participate in the voting.

According to ANI, Ruchira Kamboj, India’s representative to the United Nations, said that we need to objectively consider whether a re-evaluation process through a vote in the UNGA will contribute to the efforts to resolve the conflict. Furthermore, the legal validity of such a process by the UNGA resolution remains unclear.

Kamboj further said that we should not create any system without adequate international legal scrutiny and should not set a precedent. We need to avoid steps that prevent or jeopardize the possibility of dialogue and settlement to end the conflict.

The Czech Republic, which supported the resolution, said Russia should be held accountable for violations and damages caused by the war in Ukraine. It may be known that on February 24 this year, Russia attacked Ukraine, which is still going on. Thousands of soldiers of both the countries have died in this war so far. Especially Ukraine has suffered a lot in this war.

On the other hand, India has maintained its independent position on the Russia-Ukraine issue since the beginning. India has been consistently saying that it is not in favor of war and the present time is not right for war at all. But India has never openly condemned Russia. It is known that the relations between India and Russia are very good and on the international stage, India is moving forward under its foreign policy.
