According to the US CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), 40 percent of the new cases of corona found in the country are of XBB.1.5 variant infection. Infectious disease experts have expressed concern about Omicron’s XBB.1.5 variant.

The XBB variant of the coronavirus is spreading rapidly in parts of Asia including Singapore. Virologist Eric Feigl-Ding said that the XBB.1.5 strain is likely to become the ‘next threat’.

According to American scientist Eric Feigel Ding, the XBB.1.5 corona variant is more infectious than BQ and XBB. This is being called the ‘super spreader variant’. Patients getting infected with this variant have to be admitted to the hospital. Experts are saying that the infection rate of XBB.1.5 is much higher than all the previous variants of Corona. According to one data, XBB.1.5 spreads 120 percent faster than the BQ.1 variant. The American-origin XBB.1.5 variant spreads 96 percent faster than the Singaporean XBB variant. In India too, the XBB.1.5 variant has knocked. Its first case has been found in Gujarat.

At the same time, the variant BF.7 which has created havoc in China, its cases have been found in Gujarat and Odisha in India. Maharashtra has over 275 cases of the XBB sub-variant. But XBB.1.5 is a different sub-variant, its transmissibility is very high in the US.
