However, due to exposure to the Earth’s gravitational field, the direction of these asteroids could change, and they could roll towards the Earth.

Now, NASA has revealed that another asteroid is headed towards Earth. NASA has issued an alert regarding an asteroid named Asteroid 2023 CY1. Today, on February 17, this dangerous asteroid is expected to come very close to the Earth. According to the American Space Agency, the closest distance of this asteroid from the Earth will be only 1.7 million kilometers (about 1056331.03 miles). The asteroid is already coming towards the earth, whose speed is 23967 kilometers per hour. According to NASA, Asteroid 2023 CY1 belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids, a group of near-Earth asteroids named after the Apollo asteroid of 1862, which was discovered by German astronomer Karl Reinmuth in the 1930s.

An asteroid’s orbit is calculated by looking at its elliptical path to the Sun, which best fits various telescopes such as NASA’s NEOWISE telescope and its new Sentry II algorithm.
