China had issued new names of 11 places of Arunachal Pradesh.
America has strongly opposed China’s unilateral effort.
The US said that it recognizes Arunachal as an integral part of India.

Washington. Coming out openly in support of India, America once again opposed China’s attempt to rename 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh. The US has clearly stated that it recognizes Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India and strongly opposes any unilateral attempt to rename local areas under territorial claims.

This reaction of America has come at a time when the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China on Sunday issued standardized names of 11 places of Arunachal Pradesh. China claims this area as part of Southern Tibet.

White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday, ‘The US has been recognizing that region (Arunachal Pradesh) for a long time (as an integral part of India). We strongly oppose any unilateral attempt to advance territorial claims by renaming areas.

India also replied to China
Amid renaming of some places in Arunachal Pradesh by China, India on Tuesday asserted that the state is an integral and inalienable part of India and renaming it as a “fabricated” name will not change this reality.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, ‘We have seen such reports. This is not the first time that China has made such an attempt. We reject it outright.

Significantly, recently China has released the third list of names for Arunachal Pradesh in ‘Chinese, Tibetan and Pinyin’ characters. This is the third list of standardized geographical names issued by China for Arunachal Pradesh. The first list of standardized names of six places in Arunachal was released in 2017 and the second list of 15 places in 2021.

Some places in Arunachal Pradesh have been renamed by China at a time when the standoff between the two countries that started in May 2020 in eastern Ladakh has not yet ended.
