But now there is news that Murdoch and Ann Lesley Smith have called it quits less than a month after announcing their engagement. Murdoch, 92, chairman of Fox Corporation, and Leslie, 66, a former dental hygienist, reportedly plan to tie the knot this summer.
Rupert Murdoch is planning his fifth wedding less than a year after finalizing his divorce from his fourth wife, model and actress Jerry Hall, reports Vanity Fair. The report quoted sources as claiming that Murdoch had become uncomfortable with Leslie’s outspoken religious views. However, the spokesperson of this industrialist, known as the media mogul, refused to comment on the issue.
Last month, Murdoch announced his engagement to Ann Leslie Smith. Leslie’s late husband was Chester Smith, a country singer as well as a radio and TV executive. Murdoch told the New York Post about their relationship that ‘I was very nervous. I was afraid of falling in love, but I knew it would be my last. It would be better. I am happy.’
There was news that both were planning to get married in the summer. Murdoch had said about this that ‘we are both looking forward to spending the second half of our lives together’. Murdoch’s business empire includes Fox News in the US and the Sun newspaper in the United Kingdom. Murdoch has six children from his first three marriages. Prudence McLeod with his first wife, Patricia Booker. followed by Elizabeth and sons Lachlan and James with second wife Anna Mann. He has two more daughters, Grace and Chloe, with his third wife, Wendy Deng. Murdoch’s fourth wife was former supermodel Jerry Hall. With whom he had separated last year.
