Washington. US President Joe Biden’s top aide has said that there is tremendous enthusiasm about the state visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which underlines many elements in the strategic relationship between America and India. Joe Biden and America’s First Lady Jill Biden have invited PM Modi for an official state visit and during this a state dinner will also be organized on 22 June.

Kurt Campbell, Deputy Assistant to the President and Coordinator for the Indo-Pacific, said in an interview with ‘PTI’ on Monday, ‘There is tremendous enthusiasm and excitement about the upcoming visit. Stakeholders of US-India relations are flocking to Washington in large numbers to celebrate the importance of our relationship and to take necessary steps to further strengthen bilateral relations.’

Campbell (65) went to India on Monday with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan for the next round of Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET). Campbell said in response to a question, ‘I can say after spending a lot of time with the President and other important people that this trip is expected to prove to be historic and it is rare to feel like this about a trip.’

The Biden administration plans to host an unprecedented ‘red carpet’ reception for the prime minister and hold several daily events over the next week that will celebrate various aspects of the relationship between the two countries. Campbell, one of the big supporters of India-US relations, said, ‘I would just underline that this is not just a state dinner. It is a week-long celebration that will highlight several elements of the India-US relationship.

In response to a question, Campbell said that he expected several important agreements at the end of the visit. The president’s top aide said, ‘We will have many agreements: major investment deals in India, some agreements in defense technology.’
