Washington. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that Indian Americans have come a long way in America. During the State Dinner organized at the White House, he said, ‘People of Indian origin, full of pride in Indian values, India’s democratic traditions and our culture, have received continuous respect in America. These people have played a very important role in strengthening America’s inclusive society and economy.
PM Modi also thanked President Joe Biden for organizing a state dinner in his honour. He said, ‘I express my heartfelt gratitude to President Joe Biden for organizing this wonderful dinner today. I am especially grateful to Dr. Jill Biden for the personal attention she paid to making my visit a success. I heartily congratulate him for today’s grand event.
During this, PM Modi also mentioned his 2014 visit to America. He said, ‘I do not want to speak more about the relationship between India and America. When you had a banquet for me in 2014, coincidentally it was my 9 day Navratri fast, then you were repeatedly asking me if you would not eat anything? You were also very worried about this. I think at that time your wish to feed me with love is being fulfilled today.’
PM Modi also remembered those past moments when Biden was the Vice-President of America. He said, ‘I met you for the first time almost a decade ago when you were the Vice President, even today I see the same commitment and depth in you. You are simple in speaking but strong in action and I understand that Dr. Jill Biden has been a major contributor to your journey.
At the same time, US President Joe Biden said, ‘Jill Biden and I had a great time with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Tonight we celebrate the great bond of friendship between India and the United States of America. Prime Minister Modi is on a state visit to the US from June 21 to 24 at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
