Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on an official state visit to the US from June 21-24 at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. PM Modi also addressed the Indian diaspora at the Ronald Reagan Center in Washington on the last day of the visit. Slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ echoed inside the building when he arrived here to deliver his farewell speech after a historic state visit to America. PM Modi told the Indian diaspora that the US government has decided to return more than 100 ancient sculptures, artefacts and other antiquities and things stolen from India in the past and sent to international markets.

During this, he said, ‘During my last visit to America also, the antiques stolen from India were returned to me. Wherever I go these days, everyone thinks this is the right person. Hand it over, it will take it to the right place.’ PM Modi also gave the reason behind saying so. He said that this shows that Indo-US relations are getting stronger not only commercially but also emotionally. When he reached the Ronald Reagan Center, thanking the large number of Indians who came, he said, ‘In a way, you have prepared a complete map of India in this hall. I can see people from all corners of India here. It seems that mini India has come up here. During my stay in America, I have received unprecedented love and affection.

Referring to US President Joe Biden as an ‘experienced politician’ and recalling their discussions over the last three days, PM Modi said, ‘He has always tried to take the India-US partnership to another level. I want to thank all of you for showing such a beautiful image of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat in America. Referring to the digital revolution in India, Modi attributed the “tremendous progress” to the faith of the country’s 140 crore people. During this, he also thanked the US government for the decision to return more than 100 ‘stolen’ antiquities of India. He said, ‘These are such valuable things, which were fraudulently sent from India to the international market. I express my gratitude to the US government from the bottom of my heart for returning them to India.

Addressing the overseas Indians, PM Modi said, “You are happy with every achievement of India. You feel proud that such a large number of countries of the world come together at the United Nations Headquarters for Yoga Day. You feel proud when you see Made in. India in the supermarket here. You feel proud when you see Indian talent leading companies. You feel proud when the whole world dances to the tune of ‘natu-natu’. Addressing the Indian diaspora in Washington, PM Modi said, “New American consulates will be opened in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. It has now been decided that H1B visa renewal can be done in the US only.”

Earlier, Modi while addressing the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) said that US companies have invested around US$16 billion in India in the last two years. He said, General Electric’s decision to manufacture fighter aircraft engines in India will be a milestone in India’s defense sector. US President Joe Biden gifted Prime Minister Narendra Modi a red T-shirt with ‘The future is AI – America & India’ written on it. A day earlier, during his address to the joint session of the US Congress, PM Modi had remarked about India’s progress in Artificial Intelligence. During this, he referred to the relationship between America and India as AI (America-India Relations).
