Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-awaited address to a gathering of Indian diaspora from across the country at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC began with the rendition of India’s national anthem by international singer Mary Milben. After the historic state visit to America, when PM Modi arrived to give his farewell speech, slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ echoed.

PM Modi further said in his address, ‘It has been four days since I came to America, in these four days I have met many people including President Biden. The one thing that has given me the most confidence is the partnership between India and America. Our partnership can change the fate of the 21st century world. There comes a time in the development journey of every country, when it sets a new goal with a new energy. Today India is also passing through a similar time.

He further said, ’75 years of our independence have been completed and we, the 140 crore people of India, have taken a pledge for a developed India. We are giving permanent solutions to problems that have been going on for decades… We are empowering the poor of India. We are improving the ease of living.

PM Modi said, ‘In the post-epidemic world, the economy, inflation and supply chain are not in a good shape. However, in the midst of all this, India is moving forward with a growth rate of more than 7%. It didn’t happen by itself. Today the era of reforms is going on in India.

Prime Minister Modi further said in his address, ‘We have overcome the fiscal deficit and the ever-increasing capital expenditure. Our exports and foreign exchange are increasing. Apart from this, we are making new records in FDI. In the last two years, American companies have invested about $ 16 billion in India.

PM Modi said, ‘The partnership between India and America in the defense sector has attained a new height in this visit of mine. Yesterday, when I spoke about this in the Congress, the thunderous applause in the entire House could not stop.

He further said, ‘This partnership of India and America is in the interest of both the countries. It is also in the interest of the people of both the countries. That’s why it is equally necessary to strengthen it. Many historic steps have been taken for this. In these days concrete talks have taken place regarding the future of Indo-America. We have decided to follow a clear strategy. There is a direct message to the companies, businesses, manufacturers and innovators of both the countries – this is the time.

PM Modi said, ‘I am happy that Indian companies are investing billions of dollars in America. Indian companies are going global. Indian companies are working in many states of America and this will benefit the youth and farmers of America. The partnership between America and India is in the interest of both the countries and in the interest of the people of both the countries.

He further said in his address that in the biggest crisis of 100 years, even in this pandemic, we saw that when the world needed medicines, India increased its production and sent medicines to more than 150 countries. That too at that time, when the world was afraid even to step out of the house. The world needed the corono vaccine, India increased its production and delivered the vaccine to more than 100 countries. Our heart is big, our commitment towards world peace is even bigger.

PM Modi further said, ‘Today a new university is being built every week in India, today an Atal Tinkering Lab is being opened every third day in India. Today a new college is being built in India every two days, today a new ITI is being established in India every day, today a new IIT and a new IIM are being built in India every year.

Prime Minister Modi further said, ‘India is the mother of democracy and America is the champion of modern democracy. Today the world is seeing the partnership of two great democracies getting stronger. America is our biggest trading partner and export destination.
