While assessing the threat after the accident at 6 am, the authorities cut off the supply of drinking water to the downstream areas of the river. David Stamey, the county’s chief of emergency services, said there was no immediate danger to workers working at the site. The amount of hazardous material loaded in trains is reducing due to the swollen river. Three asphalt tankers and four sulfur tankers fell in the river. Andy Garland, a spokesman for Montana Rail Link, said in a statement that the train crew is safe and no injuries have been reported. He said that both asphalt and sulfur solidify rapidly when exposed to cold temperatures.
