There is a seating arrangement for 49 journalists in the press briefing room. Here the name of the journalist or organization sitting on each chair is fixed. Each seat has a plaque or the name of the news organization to which that seat has been allotted. The White House Correspondents Association is an organization of journalists here formed in 1914. In the year 2000, on the demand of TV journalists here, some channels were given 20×7 feet space to make open studios near the main gate of the White House complex, which today has turned into a similar 18 porta cabin.

Journalists here get a chance to have dinner with the President several times a year. The dominance of these journalists is such that outside journalists are not allowed here. Recently, all Indian journalists were invited to cover the White House for the meeting of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden.
