Houston: The painful death of an airport employee in the US state of Texas after getting stuck in the engine of a passenger plane has been declared a suicide by the local medical examiner. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office said on Monday that David Reiner (27) died of lacerations to his body after being hit by the engine, local media outlet KEN 5 reported. It has been said in the news that the medical office termed it a suicide.

The employee died at around 10.25 pm local time, when a Delta Airlines flight had just arrived from Los Angeles to San Antonio (Texas). The aircraft was moving towards the arrival gate when the employee got hit by it.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said the worker had “entered” the plane’s engine. The NTSB was initially investigating, but the investigation was halted on Monday after the medical examiner confirmed it was a case of suicide, reports cbsaustin.com. The news quoted an NTSB spokesperson as saying, “The NTSB will not begin an investigation into the incident.” There was no operational security issue on the aircraft or at the airport.
