Tallahassee: An eight-year-old girl in Florida suffered severe burns when a McDonald’s chicken nugget fell on her leg. After which he was given a compensation of $ 800,000 (Rs 6,56,14000). According to a BBC report, the girl has been identified as Olivia Caraballo. The family demanded $15 million in compensation after the girl was burned by the nugget.

This incident is of 2019, when Olivia was four years old. After opening her Happy Meal in a car at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Tamarack near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a Chicken McNugget fell on her leg, leaving a deep scar on her leg.

The Florida jury awarded compensation to Olivia based on her pain, suffering and mental anguish. The compensation consisted of $400,000 for the last four years as well as $400,000 for the future. The decision came after lawyers for the family shared photos of the burns, as well as audio of the minor’s screams as she fell on McNugget’s foot. In defense, McDonald’s argued that the family should receive $156,000 because, he claimed, his pain was gone after the burn healed in three weeks.

The outlet’s attorney also said that the girl was still going to McDonald’s to get chicken nuggets. Meanwhile, describing the legal verdict as ‘significant’, the mother of the minor girl told US media outside the court that she was “just happy”. Commenting on his daughter’s burn injury and scar, he said that Olivia will now resort to treatment to get it removed.
