Washington: The United States has announced a new military aid package of US $ 400 million (about 3300 crores) for Ukraine. This includes ammunition, tanks and armored vehicles, but this will be the first time that tactical bridges will be included to move tanks and armored vehicles. These bridges will be used by Ukrainian soldiers who are training for weapons manoeuvres. This will help troops to cross rivers or other gaps, as Russian and Ukrainian forces are present on the banks of the Dnieper River.

Announcing the aid, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the military aid package included more ammunition for HIMARS and howitzers, reports news agency Reuters. The Armored Vehicle Launch Bridge is a portable, 60-foot (18-meter) folding metal bridge that is carried over a tank body. With this system, Ukrainian soldiers can now cross the rivers to reach the Russian army. The assistance package will also include spare parts and tools for maintenance and repair of the vehicle.

The war had slowed down to a great extent during the winter months. Russia and Ukraine fired at each other from across the river. As the temperature rises again, both sides are expected to launch an offensive. The US and allies are trying to provide additional support to Kiev to help it get Ukraine in good shape.
