Washington. The growing troop build-up by India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is reinforcing the risk of an armed confrontation between the two nuclear powers. This apprehension has been expressed in the annual threat assessment of the American Intelligence Community. According to the US Intelligence report, in the event of escalation of conflict in India and China, a direct threat to US persons and interests may arise and US intervention may also be sought.

It has been said in the report that in the year 2020, in view of the ‘deadly conflict’ between India and China, the relations between the two countries will remain tense. This is when the two countries are continuously holding bilateral border talks to resolve the mutual tension and have agreed on many issues. According to a US intelligence report, the past standoff between India and China has shown that frequent small-scale violent skirmishes along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) can turn into an escalated conflict at any time.

India’s relations with China-Pakistan will worsen, Modi government will give a befitting reply to provocation, US intelligence report claims

It is noteworthy that there has been a deadlock between India and China on Eastern Ladakh for more than 30 months. On May 5, 2020, there was a standoff between the two countries in the Galvan Valley on the eastern Ladakh border after a violent clash in the Pangong Lake area. China used stones, pointed rods, iron rods and a type of stick ‘club’ to brutally attack Indian soldiers. In June 2020, Indian troops protested against the setting up of a post by China on the Indian side of the LAC in Galwan (Ladakh). In these skirmishes, 20 Indian soldiers were martyred, while China accepted the death of four of its soldiers.

Amid the ongoing military standoff with China along the Line of Actual Control, defense intelligence agencies recently issued an advisory to ensure that Indian soldiers are not using Chinese mobile phones. In an advisory issued by defense intelligence agencies, it has been said, “Military personnel and their families should be careful in using mobile phones in China and start using mobile phones of other companies as soon as possible.”

Spy agencies have asked military personnel to ‘replace phones with other phones’ included in the advisory list. Chinese mobile phones available in the market in the country include companies like Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, One Plus, Honor, Realme, ZTE, Gionee, Asus and Infinix.
