There is a trailer of the film on YouTube, which you will find very interesting, but the story sounds very imaginary. Is it really possible for a bear to ingest cocaine? If you are also considering this story as fictional, then you are wrong.

The story of ‘Cocaine Bear’ movie (Cocaine Bear real story) is based on a true incident about which we are going to tell you today. This case is of the year 1985. The story begins with Andrew Thornton. Andrew, a resident of Kentucky, was a narcotics police officer. But gradually he himself became a drug dealer. By 1977, he had also become a lawyer by doing advocacy. With his knowledge of law and understanding of narcotics, he created a network of drugs from Colombia to America.

The criminal had dropped cocaine from the plane
In 1981, he was accused of stealing weapons from the California Naval Base and supplying half a ton of narcotics to America. He somehow got these charges dropped and came out after serving 6 months in jail. On 11 September 1985, he was smuggling drugs from a plane. These drugs were being brought from Colombia to America. After unloading a large shipment in Georgia, he and his accomplice moved on when they dumped 40 plastic containers filled with cocaine in the woods of Tennessee. They did this because the plane could not carry the weight of 2 men and that much cocaine. Then both of them started getting down from the plane with the help of parachute. Andrew’s parachute did not open and he died. Money and weapons were recovered from them by the police.

But his death did not come as a surprise. Three months after Andrew’s death, on December 23, a team of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation found a dead black American bear weighing about 79 kg from the woods. He was found with the same container of cocaine that Andrew had thrown from the plane. The bear alone consumed about 70 pounds of cocaine i.e. 34 kg. At that time the total cost of that much cocaine was more than Rs 100 crore and in today’s time it is more than Rs 400 crore. When the doctors examined the bear, they were shocked. Many startling things came to light from the investigation. Firstly, the bear’s stomach was filled with cocaine till the top. However, only 3-4 grams of cocaine was found in his blood at the time of death.

Dr. Alonso of the Georgia State Crime Lab saved the bear as a showpiece by stuffing it with straw and passing through many people, it is now on display at the Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall. The doctor told that there is no such mammal on earth who could survive after consuming so much cocaine. He had had conditions like brain haemorrhage, respiratory failure, hyperthermia, renal failure, heart failure, stroke, due to which he might have died. It is seen in the trailer of the film that after consuming cocaine, the bear killed many people and created a lot of fuss, but there is no evidence of this in the real incident, it is just a fictional creation of the director and storytellers.
