Washington: New York City has been searching for a way to get rid of rats for a long time. Now maybe its solution has been found. New York Mayor Eric Adams on Wednesday assigned the responsibility of the post of ‘Director of Rodent Mitigation’ to Kathleen Corradi. Kathleen has previously led the Department of Education’s efforts to reduce rats. Adams had been looking for a person for this position for the past several years. If we talk about salary, then it is being told between $ 1.20 lakh to $ 1.7 lakh annually. That is, Rs 97.70 lakh to Rs 1.38 crore will be received as salary.

According to a Reuters report, Adams said at a press conference announcing the appointment, ‘I think, fighting rats is tough. Koradi has been called in because I think she is made just for this. During Koradi’s tenure, 70% of the schools saw a reduction in rats. They have vowed to use the “most effective technology” to reduce the rats. Koradi’s salary is modest for a city official. Communications director earns 1.72 crores per annum.

In New York, people were getting complaints of rats on a large scale. There is also a problem of waste management here. The population of rats is also increasing due to the increasing litter. Statistics show that the population of rats has increased by 70 percent in the last year itself, while the negligence regarding cleanliness has increased by 80 percent. Opposition parties are calling this campaign of Adams a conspiracy to divert attention. Officials from the Mayor’s Office have visited Greece, Israel and Argentina on this issue to study how they manage their waste.
