Washington. Police have arrested a man from Missouri. Police believe the man intentionally crashed a U-Haul truck into a security barrier in a park in front of the White House. The Secret Service said in a statement that the truck driver crashed into the barrier on the north side of Lafayette Square at around 10 p.m. Monday. The accused has been identified as Sai Varshit Kandula of Indian origin, from whom the police recovered the Nazi flag of Hitler’s party.
Two people familiar with the matter said that after the accident, Kandula got out of the truck with a Nazi flag and started shouting as police and Secret Service officers approached, according to news agency AP. When investigators questioned him, Kandula told that he had hit the truck with the aim of killing US President Joe Biden by taking control of the government.
