Despite the S-400 deal with Russia, why did America not ban India, Pentagon explained the reason

New Delhi. The issue of Russia was also discussed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three-day state visit to America. India and Russia are old friends. At the same time, 100 years of enmity between America and Russia is about to pass. Any country that becomes close to Russia automatically becomes an enemy of America. In such a situation, despite heavy opposition from America, India signed S-400 air defense deal with Russia. Not only this, India is also buying crude oil from Russia at cheap rates. During PM Modi’s visit to America, the question also arose regarding this. Now a response has been given from the White House.

The S-400 missile system has the capability to shoot down enemy ships and rockets in the air in the event of an air strike. Looking at the history, America imposes its own CAATSA (Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act) law on countries that are close to Russia and have defense deals, but India has been exempted from this. The Pentagon made it clear that only America would benefit if India was exempted from CAATSA.

India and Turkey got exemption
Sabrina Singh, deputy press secretary of the Pentagon, said, ‘America does not want any lapse in India’s security. We encourage our partners to avoid transactions from Russia. We kept repeating this with India and some other countries apart from Turkey. By the way, the comparison of buying India’s S-400 with Turkey is not correct. Both the cases are different. Turkey is a part of NATO. Please tell that Turkey has also made a defense deal with Russia.

Advice to other countries to stay away from Russia
Sabrina Singh further said, ‘I think there is a lot of difference between India and Turkey. When it comes to India, we are also confident of their diversification of weapons and our ability to integrate with them. Whereas, this is not the case with Turkey. We welcome Modi’s visit to America. Two weeks ago, our Secretary Austin visited India and met his counterpart there, then it was emphasized that we will increase defense cooperation with India. In the end, Sabina also warned her other colleagues to stay away from Russia and not do any transaction with her.
