Describing terrorism as the ‘enemy of humanity’, PM Modi said that there can be no ifs and buts in dealing with it. In a joint meeting of the US Congress in the US Capitol Hill on Thursday, PM Modi said that ‘terrorism is the enemy of humanity and there can be no ifs and buts in dealing with it. We must overcome all such forces sponsoring and exporting terror. PM Modi stressed that ‘the current era is not of war, but of dialogue and diplomacy’. We must all do what we can to stop the bloodshed and human suffering.’

PM Modi said that ‘even after more than two decades after the 9/11 incident and more than a decade after the 26/11 attack in Mumbai, fundamentalism and terrorism still remain a threat to the whole world. These ideologies keep changing new identities and forms but their intentions remain the same. PM Modi also talked about India’s economic progress. During his first US visit as PM, he discussed about the remarkable progress that India has made from being the 10th largest economy in the world to currently being the fifth largest economy in the world.

PM Modi said in a joint meeting of the US Congress that ‘When I came to America for the first time as Prime Minister, India was the 10th largest economy in the world. Today India is the 5th largest economy. India will soon be the third largest economy. We are not only getting bigger but also growing rapidly. When India grows, the whole world grows. Regarding the development of infrastructure within the country, PM Modi said that ‘our vision is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’.

PM Modi said that we are focusing on the development of infrastructure. We have increased the contribution of renewable energy to more than 40 percent of our energy sources 9 years before the target of 2030.
