America: Old enmity killed 4 members of Sikh family: Sheriff Warneke

Washington. A new information has come out in the case of the brutal murder of four members of a Sikh family in America. The Merced County Sheriff said the suspect had previously worked for the family and had a longstanding dispute with them. The sheriff called it an “extremely disgusting” act.

Merced County Sheriff Vern Warneke said on Thursday that the relatives of the slain Sikh family were deeply shocked and saddened by the incident. Investigators have prepared a case against the suspect and are on the lookout for one of his accomplices. The accused has already got punishment in one case. A day after the kidnapping, he tried to kill himself.

According to The Associated Press, the sheriff said, “The relatives of the victim’s family are in grief. We have to show them that we will bring them justice.” He told that the suspect Jesus Manuel Salgado (48) is still hospitalized (on Thursday). Prosecutors will demand the death penalty. The sheriff described it as one of the most heinous crimes in his 43-year term.

He asked Salgado’s alleged accomplice to hand himself over to the police. Sheriff Warneke told that the Sikh family had a truck business in Merced town. There, a procession will be taken out in his memory from Thursday to Sunday in the evening. The bodies of eight-month-old Aaruhi Dheri, her mother Jasleen Kaur (27), father Jasdeep Singh (36) and Jasdeep’s brother Amandeep Singh (39) were recovered from a garden near Indiana Road and Hutchinson Road on Wednesday evening. These people were kidnapped on Monday.

According to public records, the family owned Unison Trucking Inc., and their relatives said they had recently opened an office in a parking lot. The sheriff said that there was a dispute between the suspect Salgado and the family for about a year. There is no information about what Salgado used to work there and how long he worked there.

Warneke said he believed the family had been murdered within an hour of the kidnapping on Monday morning. According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect’s family told officials that Salgado had admitted to having kidnapped the Sikh family. According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the suspect Salgado has previously pleaded guilty to one count of robbery. He was sentenced to 11 years and was released in 2015.
