Biden has said that America will never recognize these claims of Russia.

Speaking to the leaders of the Pacific Islands, Biden condemned Russia’s referendum, according to the news agency Reuters. Biden said the so-called referendum was a sham of Moscow. Russia had already determined the outcome of the referendum. He said that the will of the Ukrainian people in defending the country is becoming clearer every day. Ukrainian soldiers are sacrificing their lives to save their people and maintain the independence of their country.

America will impose tough sanctions on Russia
Lashing out at Putin, the US President further said that Russia’s attack on Ukraine to fulfill Putin’s ambitions is a gross violation of the UN Charter, the basic principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is known that earlier the Biden administration had said that it would impose sanctions on Russia as a result of the referendum. The White House said in a statement on Wednesday that the sanctions are expected to target individuals and organizations within and outside Russia that support the action.

Putin will announce merger today
Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to host a ceremony for the merger of the four Ukrainian regions on Friday. Putin will today formally announce the merger of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson with Russia. While his Ukrainian counterpart has said that Putin will have to be stopped if Russia is to avoid the most harmful consequences of the war.
