Google CEO Sundar Pichai conferred with Padma Bhushan
India’s Ambassador to San Francisco Taranjit Singh Sandhu handed over the award to him on Friday.
On this occasion, Pichai said- ‘India is a part of me.’

Washington. Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai has said that he always feels connected to India and carries his Indian identity with him wherever he goes. Pichai said this on the occasion of being awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award. Pichai said, ‘India is a part of me and I take it with me wherever I go.’

Pichai, an American citizen of Indian origin, was awarded the Padma Bhushan for the year 2022 in the trade and industry category. He was given this honor by India’s Ambassador to America, Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Pichai was on Friday conferred with India’s third highest civilian award in the presence of his close family members in San Francisco, US.

Accepting this honor from India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Pichai said, ‘I am deeply grateful to the Government of India and the people of India for this honor. India is a part of me, and I look forward to continuing the great partnership between Google and India as we work together to bring the benefits of technology to more people.’

Google CEO said, ‘India is a part of me and I take it with me wherever I go. I am fortunate that I grew up in a family where the will to learn and acquire knowledge was valued and nurtured.’
